Well I was reading through the Malazan series lately, but to be completely honest I haven't been impressed with his books. They go randomly from one thing to the next and it is hard to get a good grip on exactly what is going on at any time. That being said, the series has kept me busy seeing as he does seem to like writing long books. And I must admit, it is hard to get a cooler character than the massive Toblakai Karsa Orlong as he butchers all in his path. Probably the most recent books I've read that I really liked were the the Codex Alera series from Jim Butcher. I've also been meaning to read through Matthew Stover's Heroes Die series sometime soon.
