I read Magician almost as soon as it had been published in paperback at the
tender age of 12 or 13 - so I've been with it for over 25 years now. What
I've loved about it is that it seems (and forgive me if I'm wrong here) to
have evolved as much, if not more, than being planned.
For example, I've always believed that the dread Pub and Tomas met in
Darkness at Sethanon in the City was there "just because", and the later
"dread invasion" wasn't planned at the time. As a role-player myself (and
that's another reason I like the series), it's how the campaign I've been
involved with seems to have panned out (it's slightly younger than Midkemia,
but only by a couple of years), with historic events having new meaning and
import because the GM suddenly sees a connection that makes the plot work
better.

I think it was Shells who mentioned it. But I was thinking that I have

all that time. For longer than my children have been alive I have known

your books and my imagination I have seen wonders, tragedies, joys,
sorrows and even the beginning of it ALL. While I am sad that the journey
will end I must say that it has been a wonderful experience.
Thank you Ray, for inviting me along.

I'm almost there. I started reading Magician when I was 18 and I'm now 30.
I still can't believe that was 12 years ago... I've gotten a lot of life
lessons from Ray's books; a lot of great knowledge I use on a daily basis
I wouldn't really have gotten elsewhere, so these are more than just
fantasy novels to me. You never really walk into reading a book series
like this expecting it to have a major impact on your life, but I'm very
thankful I saw that book on my then girlfriends shelf and asked to borrow
it all those years ago. It changed my life.

Way to go guys; now I feel ancient.
Seriously, thanks for the compliment. We're at 30 years now and I never for
a second imagined it would turn out like this.
Best, R.E.F.
