It used to be the case because Apple Mac (not MAC which stands for Media Access Control) Computers used to have better illustration and graphics software, as well as superior displays. Nowadays PC's can be on-par, however, there does tend to still be a difference especially with colour profiles, as there tends to be a difference between Mac and Windows default colour profiles. These days, however, colour profiles can be tweaked on both platforms so the gap is mostly non-existent and comes down to preference.
