You obviously like the accolades that you get, yet you seem critical when a fan or two voice there opinion about seeing something you may or may not have thought about. Fans like stuff that never gets touched, look at the last star trek show. Despite the clamour of the fans it still got cancelled, same with firefly. And truly its not about demystifying the character but learning more about intriguing characters you have created and caputured our intrest with. So why not just say you would not write something instead of telling us you don't wish to be told what to write when it was a suggestion not an order, we know this isn't burger king and we don't always get it our way. Wow. I know of two authors who interact with fans like this. Maybe there's more, but I don't know about it. When someone like Ray tells us not to tell him what to write, we need to sit down and shut up. Otherwise he might decide that interacting with the fans is too much effort. I would hate that. What's more, is that it is simply rude. If I say often enough "I don't like it when people do ________" if someone turns around and does it, and then chastises me for saying that I don't like it and requesting that they don't do it anymore, then they're being a prat. End of story. And finally, a writer who's work I really appreciated (Eddings) bored me silly by writi not one but TWO POVs. He basically rewrote the previous books from the POV of Belgarath and Polgara and while I loved the originals, those books put me to sleep and they are the only books of his that I've only read once. It's not always a good idea. Just my $0.05 Dan
