You are entitled to opinions like the rest of us. I would hope there were some changes over 30 years, as characters, situations, and the writer evolve. I know by design the arc got much darker as I went along, and that was intentional. With the last two books I'm trying to revisit some of the qualities of the first series but without attempting to remake Magician in any fashion. Observations like you made are best formed as questions, not statements, for a variety of reasons, but foremost it avoids the whole troll accusation. "I notice some changes and was curious as to your feeling on them, are you . . . ?" is far more effective a dialogue tool than "looks like you're getting bored." Anyway, everyone's an umpire in one sense or another, but the only one I listen to is the one who signs my checks. Best, R.E.F. ---- www.crydee.com Never attribute to malice what can satisfactorily be explained away by stupidity.
