2 reasons, I know this is probably ridiculous, but mostly as a female author
I didn't want people to think - woman author...probably mostly sloppy and
romantic stuff. I know when I started reading Raymond Feist's work so many
years ago I remember thinking at the time how nearly all the authors I liked
to read were male. Feist, Tolkein, King, Maclean, Innis, Bagley, Grisham,
Clancy, Smith. I actually ended up cutting a couple of scenes that were too
close to erotica because that just isn't the type of books I want to write.
So I have had comments that my books are quite violent in places, and they
are not really girlie books. Other than that, most of my friends just call
me Dan or Dani, so I stuck with Dan. (My husband calls me sweetchums but I
thought that might look silly on the cover .)

www.osullidan.com' - it has a link to my facebook page for Dan O'Sullivan :D
(unfortunately I have to type the address in at this stage as I'm having a
bit of trouble making it searchable)
