Plexus makes using XML in the POM crazy simple. It does all the work
for you so avoiding XML does not save you a lot of time. Just
pointing this out to those who have never made a maven plugin; it's
pretty easy to do.

Frankly, I think tooling for OSGi (maven plugins, IDE support,
etc.) will
see massive amounts of innovation as more people start adopting the
framework and providing more input on usability. So I guess what I am
saying is that I think ANY approach is going to change a lot in the
next few
months so we might as well conserve our energy and keep it simple :-)
