Dear lurkers .. I need some help. The idea for Felix started off many years ago as a commerical project to support a telco application. The key feature it needed then was the ability to run large numbers of threads efficiently, and to cooperate with C++ codes.
Since then it evolved into an advanced programming language, whilst retaining the above abilities. The latest upgrade provides type classes similar to Haskell. Developing a new programming language, translator, libraries, and documentation is a big job. The project grew from one to two a couple of years ago when my friend rfistman joined in and started developing the asynchronous I/O library: he was already using Felix in a game application. Then Erick came along and put a huge effort into the build and test system. So then were were three developers and some lurkers and auxiliary support crew (some advisers, a Debian developer). That was about what I expected for the project: slow but solid growth. But the growth has stopped: a few people drop in from time to time, look around, and leave. At this stage we need around 10 developers to keep the project progressing. There are lots of reasons why Felix isn't the number one mainstream programming language today: bugs, design problems, lack of documentation, lack of testing, lack of marketing, and lack of finance to name a few .. but I had hoped the user base would have grown a bit more by now. So I need your help!
