Wow--thanks MaryChristine----I'm going to look into that. That sounds an
attractive alternative to boric acid. (Do you recall if you have to
change the peels regularly or do they keep their potency for a
while...?) I should eat more oranges anyway....

alright, don't laugh--i was told years ago that if you put orange
peels and bay leaves under the sink and other hiding places, the
roaches would pack up and leave. why? because something in the
chemical makeup of the fumes from the combination of orange peels and
bay leaves bound something or other in their antenna and, got want of
a better analogy, gave them major headaches..... did i believe it? of
course not.... did i try it? sure--i've always heard that while borax
is great for doing in the roaches, it's not particulary beneficial for
the cats if it's anyplace they can get to it. (tho i know a lot of
folks who use it with no problems....) nevertheless, whether it was
migraines or just not wanting to live around someone who put out
orange peels and bay leaves, the roaches moved out...
