Faye,
Did you read the article posted about methods of finding lost animals based on their personalities? Why don't you set a humane trap in the area you spotted him? If you don't own a trap, you can usually rent them from feed stores, or get a rescue in your area that cares about ferals to help. Write to me off list if you want some suggestions about effectively setting the trap. I know how hard the 'not knowing' is. I would trust your instincts on this, do you think he's still alive? Even if that wasn't Simba you spotted, somebody's out there that could use your help. You spotted that cat for a reason. Let me know what you decide to do.

Nina, the cat I saw was thin and looked like he had lost weight recently. Simba is a good hunter and there is plenty of mice, rats, and voles for him to eat and he does eat them. I wish I could have had a couple of more minutes to look at him to make sure. I was so stunned at seeing him in that place, that my mind wasn't at its best.

Oh Faye, he's such a handsome man! I'm so sorry to hear Simba is
    still
missing. He must be being fed by someone, if that was him. Have you
done all the things that Gloria and her pals did in searching for
    Sam?
Even if you have, it might be worth starting over. If someone has
    been
feeding him, I'm sure they don't know that he has been missed all
    this
time. I hope that was him, and that he'll finally be reunited with
    you
    somehow and soon.
