I had always thought between 1 and 2 years of age. But with my boys, they went from kitten food to prescription food at about 5 months because of Smoky's GI issues. And their growth was certainly not stunted in any way!!!

I suspected introducing gradually after 6 months but not sure as I've never done it myself.
