Hi Wendy,
The climate is one huge plus about where I live. It is near the beach and is comfortable, no air conditioning needed! It can get chilly at night during the winter months, upper 40s, lower 50s, so we do use the heater. We're about 20 minutes from the Conejo grade, (small mountain pass into the San Fernando Valley), in the summertime the temp drops 10 to 15 degrees when you crest the grade and gets cooler still as you near the ocean. The folks in the valley, (just 45 minutes away from me), can be sweltering, and we're nice and comfortable with our ocean influence. The thought of moving somewhere I'd have to rig climate control for my ferals is darn right frightening to me!

I didn't live in Houston, but Dallas was humid enough for me. Take a shower, walk outside and get drenched in sweat; time for another shower! I was a kid and fairly strapped for cash, (some things don't change!), and my car would overheat if I didn't run the heater. OMG it was the summer from Hell as far as the heat was concerned! And did I mention the June bugs?

Hey Nina,

Isn't Southern California by the ocean? Do you guys
have humidity there? To me, Dallas isn't humid at
all, especially compared to Houston and Florida. Now
there's some humidity!!! When I first moved to
Houston, it took me awhile to get used to sweating the
instant I walked outside out of the A/C. haha. You
are right though; it definitely doesn't cool off at
night here in the summer. You can expect 90+ weather
all throughout July and August, night and day here. It's a bit cooler south of here, because it's closer
to the ocean. I stayed in Venice Beach for a few
weeks one summer and I was surprised at how cool it
got at night. You guys don't have air conditioners
down there, do you? What about heaters? What about
you guys up north? Do you use air conditioners in
your homes?

:)
Wendy
