Hideyo,
I somehow missed your post about what you found out about Hannibal today. From responses I've seen.....was it bad kidney values? If so, what does your vet say about giving him the pet-tinic? I would think the iron would be hard on the kidneys???

Hi Hideyo,
That is not true about not being able to stop epogen after starting
it, in fact a girl I know whose cat was kept alive by it for 2 years,
would lower his does according to what his numbers were. With him he
would go weeks in between doses when his numbers were good and as soon
as it was apparent with his behaviour that he was getting low in red
cells he would increase his doses. For 2 years epogen kept him alive,
he had anemia (non regenerative, CRF, and lymphoma), I'm not sure what
caused his anemia, I think it was the cancer but not sure.
If Hannibal's numbers were to come back up you would want to lower his
dose and probably spread them out, I would think if it stayed normal
discontinue it. I have never heard that you couldn't restart it if his
number went down again, but I will check on that. I think I asked my
vet about that but I can't swear to it, I had so much going on at that
time. I will find out though.
