Belinda, I am pretty sure that the employer should have sent to you a form to complete to get on COBRA. I think the employer has a certain amount of days to do this once your insurance ends. You might want to ask somebody about this. In some cases the insurance company will send you the info. and in some cases the employer is responsible. I live in TN and with my new insurance my employer has to send the COBRA info. out offering it. I know the old insurance we had the insurance company did it. I am not for sure but I think they only have something like 14 days to get this out. They can get into trouble if they don't offer your husband COBRA. I agree with Wendy you should be able to pick up the COBRA from the time your husband lost the coverage. I don't know when that was and COBRA can be expensive but it would well be worth it considering the circumstances. Good luck if you do end up having the surgery. Be very careful with yourself and don't try lifting anything or overdo it when you get home. I had to have a hysterectomy about 10 years ago.
