My Fred, 15 years old currently has early CRF and was recently
treated with I131 for hyperthyroid. He also had an infection which
we treated with Orbax, he will have a dental in a week or so and blood
work to check where his thyroid is in a month and a half. Currently
he isn't getting any fluids or special diets until we see where his next
blood work and urinalysis stands. he is slowly gaining back some of
the weight he's lost from the hyper-t. And I found a food he seems
to really like.
I just wanted to let you know that many on the
group have kitties that were diagnosed in pretty bad shape and with
agressive fluid therapy and food changes, sometimes phorperous binders and
other supplements they are doing great. Some that were in pretty bad
shape are still going strong 2, 3 and even more years later. You
also need a good vet who knows what they are doing.
