And even if you do find something that says "Made in America"
you probably will be supprised if you look inside and see all the small
parts that came from China or else where...

I have been boycotting Chinese goods for at least 10 years. I
started because they use prison labor to make a lot of their goods, and
they have no environmental regulations for factories either. It is
hard to avoid Chinese goods, but the effort makes you much more
conscious about where your things come from. It also just makes you
buy less.
My partner, Gray, teaches Chinese history in a university. One
year he had all his students go through everything in their dorm room
and make a list of what was made in China. The students were all amazed
at the length of their lists-- hardly anything they had was made
anywhere else. It is a consciousness-raiser.
