I don't agree at all with the whole carrier being transparent. That would freak me out, much less kitty. I think they feel safer not being able to see the big, bad world outside when they are on the move in the carrier. Just my opinion. They do need ventilation on all sides and one window/door. Most carriers unscrew to be top-loaders, but I don't bother with that. I pick up kitty like a child and put them into the carrier feet first and "drop" them in, for lack of a better term. Works fairly well, unless kitty thinks they are a monkey. Go to Wal-Mart and buy a cheap one. They are as good as any others.
