Hi again! OK...I promise this is the LAST question (at least for today!!!). ![]()
Slinky had fleas before I first got him (he was born under my boyfriend's trailer and boyfriend's sister took him to the vet because he had a URI and he also had fleas). They gave him Revolution...which actually seemed to work, surprisingly.
When I first took him to the vet here (Banfield, re: my last post), he was flea-free. But he did have tape worms. We've treated for the tapeworms...and hopefully they're gone now. But when I took him back 3 weeks later, we didn't see any evidence of fleas (he just looked through his fur at his skin), but he'd been itching a lot. So the vet said to do a treatment with Advantage. I did that...and he stopped itching...at least for a while.
That was a
couple weeks ago...and he does itch occassionally now, but not a ton.
My question is...should I just plan on doing a flea treatment once a month? Or is that amount of chemicals bad for him, esp. since he's felv+? Also, I've heard that Frontline Plus is the best treatment. Do you all concur? What is your recommendation re: fleas?
He also had ear mites when I first got him...and I treated and they went away. Then when we went in a couple weeks ago, he'd been itching his ears and while we didn't see any mites (even under the microscope), doc thought there might be some eggs or an infection, so gave me Tresoderm. Should I plan on continuous treatment for mites as well or...??
Ugh! Complications. I promise to shut up for today (unless you want me to make it an even 10...I'm sure I can come up with something! lol...jk). THANK
YOU SO MUCH for being so wonderful!!!
Hugs to you all!
MJ
