That’s so good that he can – I wish my vet could as I would never hesitate it if so.. I just hate the emergency clinic --- they make you wait forever,, while they were putting on cathter on Tsubomi in the backroom, she did not come out for like 45 min and I was worried,,and I kept asking whether she was okay.. and I asked too often that they called me name in the backroom, I could hear it..but I did not care.. I did not want to be separated from her even a minute.. so I demanded that I stay right by her side as she get the transfusion which they would never normally agree.. but they did this time.. so I was petting her the whole time she was getting blood. again, if they can match the blood first, that will be helpful.  (we did not.. but I picked my big lucky fortune cat “oh oh” as a donor and I know that it would be okay..

That is an incredibly awful wait -- thank goodness you screamed.  I think my vet can do transfusions - am pretty sure he can since we talked about it.  Thanks, Hideyo.

Not when she was getting transfusion – she was dying in my arms.. while we were waiting at the emergency clinic (in Albuquerque, there is not a regular clinic who can do transfusion so I needed to go to emergency clinic, where you cannot schedule it in advance – and I hated it) ..anyway, we had to wait for 5 hours before she could get a blood, and she was getting weaker and weaker and she vomited a bunch of blood in my arms (I mean a bunch, very thick and ketchup like blood) and I freaked out.. and I screamed – YOU HAVE TO GIVE HER BLOOD RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!—SHE IS DYING – I screamed at the office so loud, and they dropped everything and finally started set her up.. I had to bring my own donor cat, Oh Oh to donate blood, which he did so wonderfully!!!  Tsubomi was getting cold and if we did not give her blood then, I knew she did not survey that day.. as soon as the blood got into her body, I could tell her that she started feeling better, she was more alert and she was getting more pink.. I cannot tell you how good it felt.. I am sorry, I cannot cry talking about this.. I was so happy that she felt better… it only took a little over an hour and I brought her home.. she had some type of reaction as she ran a high fever that night.. as I said.. the effect of the transfusion lasted only several hours on her.. but,, I would not have regret it as I was able to see her smile once more..—gosh I miss her so very very much..

Was it terribly stressful for Tsubomi?  Valley is pretty laid-back - used to rowdy kids.  So a trip to the vet doesn't seem to be very stressful in itself.

I have to agree with Kelly – but again, I know why you don’t want to do it, too.. I gave Tsubomi transfusion who was felk kitty when her PCV was at 9 – transfusion unfortunately lasted only several hours.. somehow her body was destroying her own red blood cells right away.. it’s some time of autoimmune illness from Felk –

Anything you do may not be as instant as transfusion – if you are worried, make sure that they match up the blood first – it will make him feel better right away—it did to Tsubomi -- I was so glad to see her feeling better even it was for a short while – it was worth doing it…

With a crit of 7 I think stress may be secondary. I would do the transfusion and try to buy a bit of time...go from there.

Does anybody have any ideas?  Susan(who wrote a message today) has a critical situation with her FELV baby Valley - a beautiful flame point Siamese.  Didn't want to miss out on any suggestions, as it was a long message.  Thanks - Gloria

And now Valley - please put him on the special needs list - I need prayers or meditation or chanting or whatever you believe in -- for a remission for the feleuk crisis he is in.  He is another of my "library cats" who comes to work with me.  He was a rescue from a kill shelter about 5 years ago - he was 1 or 2 at the time.  Feleuk positive.  Looked like death warmed over but once fattened up has been so healthy that I had him retested last year to see if he'd reverted to neg.

He began losing weight about 2 weeks ago - gums pale as snow.  Blood work shows a hematocrit of 7 - almost not compatible with life.  He is still somewhat active - gets off the bed to go to the litterbox and sometimes to the rest of the house.  Will eat if I put food in front of him.  His vet thought we could  get a remission until the blood work came back.   He is getting raw liver, Clindamycin, 5mg pred every day, PetTinic, interferon.  I have immunoregulin and could try that.   I asked about Epogen and the way my vet explained it is that with feline leukemia, where the bone marrow is basically "dead" and not going to produce red cells, to give Epogen would be like knocking on the door when nobody is home.   We decided against blood transfusions due to the stress and the short term result.   Does anyone have any ideas?

I apologize for the length of this.  Thanks for reading.
