Well, damn, Kelley, what a predicament.  And how hurtful!

Okay, was this the same person who called you in the other day?  Was this somebody who knew, or should have known, that you had been called in last week for the same complaint?  Did he/she PERSONALLY say you smelled, or was it a "people are saying" kind of thing?  Did they say you specifically smell today, or could it be a carryover from last week somehow?  I know you've already wracked your brain about this, but is there anything you were wearing/carrying that might have gotten spritzed without you noticing, either now or previously?  Could the combined essences of vinegar, detergent and oxyclean possibly be taken as ammonia-like when warmed with body heat?  Because I'm thinking, if people know you have cats and smell ANYTHING that's not Chanel No. 5 in your vicinity, be it Mr. Clean, Lemon Scented Pledge or smelly feet, they're more prone to INTERPRET it as cat odor because they're predisposed.

You have my sympathies.  I know this would drive me nuts.  BTW, I'd suggest keeping some sort of written record on this -- what was said, by whom, and when, what you have done to remedy the problem, what the result is, etc.  I'd hate to think somebody was out to get you, but it would be good to have some sort of documentation on your end.  Is there somebody, a friend you can trust to be brutally honest, you can have smell your clothing (somewhere away from all litterboxes, with *you* standing at a distance) and tell you if it smells?  If so, write down what they say as well.

If there *is* a litterbox smell on your clothes, I'm not sure how much extra advantage you'd have dry cleaning them -- especially if they're not meant to be dry-cleaned.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that enzymes are used in dry-cleaning chemicals.

Really, I can't possibly smell like cat pee after all that, even assuming the cats actually peed on the dress before I washed it, can I?    I could take it to the dry cleaners?????

darn, kelley, i don't know what to tell you--sounds like it's more of
a personal attack than reality? as was mentioned earlier, being known
as the cat-lady can make you a target. is your company one with a
good, sympathetic human resources department????

(going to throw her winter coat into the washer right away.....)
