Hideyo, that is not your fault. An autoimmune type of anemia can not be helped by transfusions, because the problem is the body killing red blood cells, so it just kills the new ones too from the transfusion. The only thing that can stop autoimmune type of anemia is immune-suppressing drugs like really really high steroid doses and/or certain chemo drugs. And even those don't work all the time. Simon died from this as well, and it was very fast. His HCT was in the 20's, then 16 one day (which I did not know until the next day because they sent it out), and the next day was 8. That is extremely fast. Tsubomi may have gotten that anemic literally overnight, so there may have been nothing you could have done. That said, i do need to find out about transfusions near here. I know the 2 ER's where I can get them, one is 45 minutes away and I hate them, the other is 1 hour away and is where I took Lucy for the oncologist and internist. I need to ask my local vet if he can do them or not. Thanks, Michelle In a message dated 1/20/2007 1:21:32 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:
I know that I mentioned to you this before - -but do find out what you need to and where you can take her in case she needs a transfusion NOW – just in case her PCV goes down further – I did not pay enough attention to my felk baby tsubomi got sick very quickly and her PCV was only 9 - I gave her transfusions, but I shouldn’t have waited that long.. She had some type of autoimmune disease and the transfusion’s effect lasted only for a several hours and she dies of anemia. It was my fault..
