Hi Sally,
I'm so pleased to hear how much better Junior is doing. Thank you very
much for updating us on his progress. It's wonderful that he's regained
some of his sight. The news is so very encouraging! Have you been
giving him Omegas for the inflammation? It would be good if you could
wean him off the Metacam eventually, (I've heard some neg reports about
it's use). In the meantime, I don't see how a fish oil supplement could
hurt. Maybe you could ask your vet what he thinks. I give my German
Shepherd flax seed oil to help with his degenerative spine disease and
arthritis because it's high in Omegas (they are proven to reduce
inflammation). Because grains are not good for kitties, I give them
salmon oil instead. Omega fatty acid is also good for their coat. I
recently ordered a concentrated Omega 3 supplement that is advertised as
an skin allergy reliever. It's called Aller G-3, I got it online, I
think at Only Natural.
I take it Eric is your son? I'm sorry to hear he is in pain. Would you
like to tell us more about what you know of Eric's condition? I don't
remember your writing about him before. Your commitment to Junior's
care is even more commendable knowing how much you have on your plate
already. I loved hearing about Eric and Junior being such good therapy
for each other. Isn't it amazing how our fur babies give back to us in
so many ways?
Blessings to your family,
Nina

Hi Everyone
Yesterday was a very good day for Junior. Actually he has been doing
well for over two weeks. After a 1 month course of Baytril, I put him
on Metacam for pain and inflammation. What a difference a week can
make. He is like a kitten again. I never thought I would see him
feeling so well. I did not want to say anything before now. I wanted
to make sure it was real.
He stays in Eric's room, because he does not want to be around the
other cats. He now likes to venture out a bit and explore. Ok for the
real good news, his vision is better. He can see close up again. Eric
discovered this and had to show me. Now I am sure it is not great
vision, but I guess the inflammation was causing part of his
blindness. Junior is good therapy for Eric. Eric is suffering from
some yet undiagnosed neuromuscular disease. Probably autoimmune in
nature. Lately he has been in a lot of pain and is very week in his
legs. Junior provides comfort and support for Eric while I am at work.
I guess you could say he is a therapy cat, at least for Eric he is.
I just thought I would share the good news.
I am having problems with the PC cutting off on me after a few
minutes. I have not been able to keep up with the group news.
I hope every one's kitties are doing alright. I pray for all of them
Sally, Junior, and the rest of the gang.
