How old was your male cat that died? Wondering if he was about 3 years old.

I personally don't find it to be THAT contagious, so since your other cat has been exposed to him for a while, she's had plenty of time to come down with the virus and hasn't.

There are several folks on this list who regularly mix their positives and negatives, and haven't had any transfer of the virus. I have in the past, but am not doing that now. had no problems.

Guess what I'm saying is your other cat is probably fine.

Best of luck,

Gloria

Hi everyone,

I have learned a lot by reading some of these posts. My cat recently died. It was a shock to me as my cat stayed in doors and tested negative when I got him. He lived for three years and always seemed to be healthy until the last month of his life. He got very sick quickly. I didn't know anything about felv when he was dx. He also was vaccinated by the way.

i have a two year old female cat, Chica. She was recently tested and is negative. Should she be tested again? She lived with my other cat for two years.

I'm also wondering whether or not she should get the booster for leukemia if she's not exposed to it anymore? The vet said it's possible she could have it but he thinks there's a good chance she wont' get it.

She stays in doors and i'm not planning on getting another cat right away. I still have a lot to learn. I hope she stays negative but i'm constantly worried about her getting felv. My male cat died about a month ago. It's still a shock.

thanks

mary
