You don't think your vet would do it as a courtesy to find out what is going on. If it isn't FIP there is the possibility of maybe being able to treat the others that are coming down with unknown aliments. If it is FIP then you know for sure you have done all that is possible.

Not trying to be mean or make you feel bad, but it just bugs the h*ll out of me when vets say FIP and stop looking or treating.

Maybe my vet was just more curious and wanted to learn more than others, she always did necropsies on my guys for free to see if she missed anything that may help the next patient.
