Kenzie,
I'm sorry to read that Maggie has mouth ulcers. Here is a link to a CRF site
on slippery elm bark.

Mouth ulcers are common with CRF and the SEB has helped many. SEB can also
help with diarrhea. Lick lipping is also a sign of nausea. SEB also helps with
mild nausea. You can buy SEB at health food store, Whole Foods or on line.

Did the vet do any blood work?

If the ulcers persist you may want to talk to your vet about Carafate. Here
is a link to more info.

Last I posted we had tested negative which was great! They had been previously
exposed. Well Maggie began doing a lot of lip licking and had some small
drool- not a lot just a bit here and there- I also noticed kitty acne and have
since switched to only stainless steel bowls from the plastic. But I did take
her to the vet and she has ulcers/sores on her tongue and he thinks they may
run through her digestive track. She was having some diarrhea. She was never
running fevers thought so I think that's good.

He said they aren't rodent ulcers because they aren't on her lips and he's
never seen anything like this before. He gave her a long lasting steriod shots
and she is on amoxicillin. I still give her her vitamin supps even though she
has tested negative. She was having a heard time w/ her hard food and treats
and wanting to swallow it whole so I have softened the hard food w/ water and
we also have soft food 2 x's daily- I have been giving her extra because she
does have the appetite and w/ not eating the dry, I don't want her to loose too
much weight-

Has anyone ever had this happen? Does anyone have any ideas? I am worried
about her. Any advice would be great!
