Here's another example of "personal choice".

I vehemently disagree. I have participated in several feline blood transfusions
(and even more canine). The cats are sometimes lightly sedated for the
procedure (not always), and are not in an any worse situation than when on an
IV, or having blood drawn.

Where exactly do you get your information about "cat or cats in the vet clinic
who often die when drained of too much blood." In the first place, most blood
for transfusion is from blood banks. That means it's already tested for
matching. The few clinics that still may use "Clinic Cats" fro transfusions are
probably VERY attached to these cats, and aren't going to jeopardize their PET.
I have taken cats of my own as donors (B cats are fairly rare, and Igor was
very co-operative) and neither he nor the other two EVER suffered ANY adverse
effects.

I just had a 2 1/2 year old tripod cat go into renal failure. She had two
transfusions, needed to save her life. Yes, it was expensive. But it was no
more traumatic than the IV she was also getting.

And she's back to terrorizing my house. Which is as it should be.
