Hi Anita,
If this rug has a rubber backing, this could be the problem. Something
about the ingredients in the rubber smell like ammonia to kits, and they
then think it's okay to pee there because obviously everyone else is. I
think you may just have to trash the rug if this is the case.
If this is not the case, I think I'd try some Nature's miracle in the
laundry, but I wouldn't be surprised if the peeing started back up
again, anyway. Something about small rugs (rubber backing or not) seems
to attract certain cats. I have actually gotten rid of all the small
rugs in my house (not a problem w/ large area rugs) because I got tired
of the occasional "accident"--Now I just use an old towel to wipe up any
water in front of the sink, and then pick it up when I'm finished.
Someone (Sue?) mentioned Feliway--I have found that this product really
helps with marking behavior *and* with intros to a certain degree. The
