William-or is it Bill?-I can tell you just a little about the epogen -
(procrit) it stimulates rell cell growth. My adult 9 year old Sam has been
on it for almost a year; he
is now off of it for a "break"-you need a vet who can prescribe a dose for
a kitten. Oral things like Pettinic(Vit. B complex)and interferon are
excellent-- It will be good for you to learn to give any injections and IV
fluids if that becomes necessary, since it is really less traumatic for
Patch and less expensive for you--everybody on this list will send you love,
support, and good Felv advice. Sammy had acemannan last year, too.Because of
people on this list, I learned about the interferon, and about Winstrol for
appetite. We all know how much it hurts to go to work and leave Patch; I am
saying a prayer that you can get him better.Right now, be sure he gets
enough fluids---and give everyone an update.

Subject: 1st Experience with FeLV positive kitten.

Well I subscribed (to the Digest version) so I thought I
should say something.

This is our first experience with FeLV and so far it is not a pleasant one.
We are a household of 5 cats and this last weekend our youngest (approx 7
months old) would not eat and appeared to have a fever. So on Monday we
took him to the Vet and when we got back the results of the blood tests it
was
confirmed that he was FeLV positive and suffering from the resulting severe/
clinical anemia. We are giving him antibiotics and Prednisone but he does
not eat much and is very listless. It really hurts to go to work each day
and
leave him at home. The other cats are really very good about leaving him
alone. He does drink water but we (wife & I) are very worried.

He is truly one of the most sweet natured babies you could wish for. His
name is Patch and he looks like a shorthair tabby cat who was dropped in a
bucket of white paint.

We are hoping we can get him revived enough and build his blood counts to
a point where we might be able to try some regimen of medicines such as
Acemannan. I am considering trying a formula I saw on the internet which
included Aloe Vera juice, buffered vitamin C, Wild Yam Extract, and DMG.

He is very young and we can only hope we can restore him to a level where
he has a fighting chance to explore newer treatments.
