Julie,
I am so sorry your Mom passed away - I lost my Mom to Lung cancer almost
13 years ago and I can feel the emptiness even now. I know this isn't a
very easy time for you - trying to finish your Masters degree and dealing
with your own health problems - but you need to stay strong and take care
of yourself - your Mom's spirit is still alive and well - she's just moved
on to the next level, one that most of us cannot access while we still
cling to our physical form. My prayers are with you and I'm sending
strong and healing vibes your way too. You don't need to apologize for
reaching out to us on a non-FeLV topic - we are here to support you
whenever you need us. The first year will be the toughest to go thru -
you will have holidays, anniversaries and your birthday to go thru with
only your memories of her, and it's okay to cry - it's a very empty
feeling. Don't let anyone tell you that you should get over it or
anything else insensitive and stupid. Some people will say things like
"at least she didn't suffer", and they're trying to be supportive - they
just aren't quite sure what to say or do for you. You will have to tell
them what it is you need or want from them, and then they will be able to
help you. And remember, we are here on this list anytime you need us -
just ask.
