Thanks, Sharon. I thought they were the same, but I wasn't sure. Chloe goes
in to the vet this afternoon, thanks for everyone's good wishes! Hopefully
we caught it soon enough that it won't develop into anything more.

Procrit and Epogen are one and the same.

Sorry your vet is leaving; it's tough to lose a good one.

Subject: anemia

Hi guys,

I'm taking Chloe to the vet tomorrow. I noticed over the weekend that her
gums are pale, and so of course,I am worried about anemia. She is still
eating, still rather playful - she just all of a sudden has white gums. I
think she might be a little stressed because of the introduction of our new
kitten, Bodhi. They get along well now (they even sleep together!), but
Bodhi was very upsetting to her at first.

The vet mentioned something called "procrit" as a possible treatment for the
anemia. I haven't heard anything about it. And the stuff I found on the web
about it has to do with humans and anemia caused by cancer. I'm wondering if
anyone here has used procrit or knows anything about it? What are the other
recommended treatments for anemia? Peggy - I know you're dealing with this
right now as well.

I'll ask about hemobart, of course. Although I kind of feel in my gut that
it was just the stress of having Bodhi that triggered it.

And - my vet is leaving the practice! She's been very helpful and very
positive about everything. She hasn't always known what to do, but she's
always been open to new ideas. I'm kind of bummed about her leaving...
