Hi Jamie,
I haven't posted much lately except for one or two private emails as I
was taking the summer to get back on track. Glad your move went well!
Also, would you recommend Dr. Messonnier's book as one I could add to my
other books?

Anne,
Welcome to the list! I haven't read thru what everyone else has written
but I know it to be valuable nonetheless!

Regarding your unfortunate visit to Dr. Messonier:

I had to go to several Vet's before I decided upon one that met the long
list of what I was looking for in a Vet for my FeLV babies.
The first time when I brought 2 FeLV kittens in for a check up last
September, although he was pleasant enough with my kittens, his manner
seemed disinterested and I felt that he didn't really go the extra mile
when I asked him several questions about FeLV, but he was honest and
admitted that he hadn't treated many. When I asked him where I could
find information/studies on a couple of things he went and got a book,
opened it and pointed to a few lines of text and said I could write down
the Journal article numbers, authors' etc and go search on the net for
the abstracts. Well, I didn't even know how to do that at that time, and
just felt "OK, another one down the tubes." I had to rethink this
however because he is a colleague of my Homeopathic Practitioner
(colleagues in Homeopathic training - they were classmates during the 4
year diploma course available here for Homeopathy) and I needed a Vet
who had the Conventional means (x-rays, Conventional drugs, equipment to
check for corneal ulcers, ringworm etc) to complement my relationship
with my Homeopath. So I kept up with the relationship and to make a
long story short, as the relationship grew - at one appt. we were having
quite a lengthy discussion which must have lasted about 15-20 minutes
above and beyond the regular Vet visit. As I closed the carrier that one
of my cats, Valcor, was in and started to leave the treatment room, he
burst out laughing and said "Aren't you forgetting something?" and
pointed towards Valcor happily trotting down the hallway to the back of
their offices..... Still cracks me up. So, basically if it were me I
would give Dr. Messonnier another try. If he still behaves the way he
did on your first visit, then definitely drop him.

Just my .02 cents.

Glenda
