Sharon,

Thanks I will pass on the sorry to Diane this weekend about Kevin and Sophia. I personally still fell bad about Sophia. I kept trying to get them to use C or interferon on her a few months ago. Thank you again.

As for fosters, our group doesn't rescue felv cats they pts. Yes, I was surprized when I heard that. We have a hard time finding fosters. If Diane didn't find them they would of been PTS. Diane will never PTS a healthy cat. She is in the group but puts her own money out so the organization has no say in what she does with her rescues. I only foster for her finds now. She gives me most of the money as for Charmed we split some things and she pays for some and I pay for others.

I think the biggest problem for people with felv is the vets. Not all but most are not knowledgeable and miss lead people to PTS cos there is no hope. We on this group know better. Threw this group I have learned so much and I pass what I know to Diane. She is has numberous cats and has taken in the rest of Kevin's family now and is not so afraid of spreading it to her other fosters. I set her up with C and Interferon from the vet who was nice enough to help without seeing them.

At adoptions I talk to people and when I mention that my cats have a felv brother, people are so sad but I tell them how well he is doing. I tell them that there is hope now not like before and that most vets don't know that much. I met a girl who had a felv and he lived only 5 years. She talked to me for so long and wished she knew about this group a few years ago. I always talk of felv, I would wear my t shirt but I don't think they would be happy so I wear it all over the place. Alot of people talk and ask me about it too. Our group is strange we had a week ago a lady coming in to dump two kittens we wouldn't take them cos they were not tested for felv or fiv. Now here is the killer we will not take them cos we are have cats in the luv a pet cages so we don't want them to get it but we will take a cat with uri or ringworm and leave in luv a pet and wonder why other cats are getting sick in luv a pet or getting ringworm. I try to educate them but some people don't want to learn. Sigh.

But we do have on women who has 5 felv cats and I think the only reason they support her is cos she had 3 kittens turn negative. I don't know if they were IFA tested or just elisa.

Carla,

I agree that it is sad that Sophia never had a chance to get help. It is
sadder that people fostering were afraid to touch her. Why are they
fostering? Thank heavens for the people on this list who allow these
precious babies to know love in their lives on earth.

I'm sure that Kevin and Sophia have found a warm, welcoming family at the
Bridge. All of our much loved babies were there to greet them!

Sharon

Some of you may remember Sophia, I was looking for a home for
her awhile back. She then had URI so I stopped for a while. She
was up and down bounced back from foster to foster. She became
very thin a few weeks ago and Diane took her from the foster and
hospitalized her for a week. She then deceided to take her home
and work with her with my help and advise that I have received from
this group. We made an appointment for her next week. Diane said
she was eating good. I picked up interferon Friday night for Sophia
to give to Diane on Saturday.
Saturday Diane called me and was rushing Sophia off to the vet
she was having breathing problems. Sophia never made it to the vet
she died on the way. I feel so sad for her she never got the chance
to get any help. All that fostered her were afraid to touch her. Sad
to say most people are afraid of felv. Please say a pray that she is
welcomed by all of the angels who are up there waiting to welcome
her into a new life free of pain.

As for Kevin he was born to a mom that was tested negative with 4
other siblings. Kevin didn't seem to grow. He was about 3 months
old when he was rushed to the hospital at 12:30 am. Diane took
drove him down due to strange behavior. The was diagnosed with
felv, serve anemia and lymphomia. He had a blood transfusion but
it did no good. With all that he had and was hooked up to iv's and a
decathiter (can't spell that), and the transfusion didn't help they had
to make that choise we all dread. So young so sweet may he be
welcome at the bidge by all the other angels we have lost.

BTW all of his siblings were tested positive and the mother is now
testing positive. We gather she came in contact right before she
was rescued. All of these cats and kittnes were from the site
where Charmed was rescued last year. Any one new to the list
please follow the footstep and advise of the group. I feel if I had not
found this group Charmed may have suffered the same faith.

Once again may Sophia and Kevin find there way to the bridge and
find the happiness that they missed here on earth. May they find
new friends above in all the other angels that have gone before
them.

Carla
