Well, Sam must have been wonderful to inspire a line of successor "Sams."

All gray and white cats are named Sam in our family, in honor of the Original Sam, who was PTS at the age of 12 due to a severe case of infectious anemia (what we now know was hemobart). That had to be 25 years ago or more.
He was the best cat. Every gray and white we have named Sam has been the sweetest and best cat ever. My sister's "current" Sam (SamSam) is 16 now, and everybody just loves him. In fact, people who swore they didn't like cats were "converted" after spending time with SamSam - my husband included. Now he's hooked! You should see how he is with Salome' (who is really his cat anyway - she simply adores her Daddy!)

Okay, Terri, why Sam?
Franklin is named for Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, NC or he would prefer to think that the street is named for him!
