Hey Genie-
Just a thought, but how about calling your vet and asking him/her to give you a round of Tetracycline for Luke? I think you said you haven't tried an antibiotic yet soooo.....
1. It's something fast you can get immediately.
2. It's something you haven't tried yet.
3. It's relatively cheap.
4. It's not invasive and won't hurt him regardless.
5. If it works over the next week you can maybe avoid
needing a specialist!
6. Even if you still go to the specialist, you will at
least feel like you are trying something new in
the meantime.
Just thinking out loud here. I just have a feeling about this- like maybe it's something simple that is just being over-looked. Lack of appetite and funny breathing... I don't think the suggestion of pneumonia is out in left field. Oh, I don't know if it's the same in cats as with humans, but I remembered what you said a/b him not running a fever and thought that a fever w/b present if he had pnemonia. BUT, my friend almost died from it last January- lungs collapsed and all- and she said she did NOT run a fever the entire time she was sick. Anyway, we are praying for you guys!
Sorry, one more thing. Is there some kind of general test they can run to detect the more common bacteria/viruses/parasites in the blood/stool/urine? I'm sure the vet would have mentioned it by now, but just to be sure...
Jamie
