Belinda,

You're so right on this one !

My boyfriend does know how much my 'babies' mean to me, and has always been
supportive with my own cats and dogs, but when I got more heavily into the
rescue and foster "business" the strain began to show. But even then, he
knew that each of my rescue litters were "temporary" and that good homes
would be found eventually. He helped scoop and feed and transported to and
from vet visits for spays/neuters, lab draws, and the occasional trip to the
emergency room in the wee hours. (I'm sure gonna miss the help, that's for
sure)

But now with my leukemia kitties !! We haven't had a line of people
knocking down my door to adopt them and he knows that I intend to keep them
as long as needed. Heck - I'm so attached to my babies now, I not really
sure if I'd be willing to let them go anymore anyway!! They are so special
and different then my "normal" cats, as all of you guys on the list very
well know. Somehow they know they are "special" and live each of their days
with a bit more fullness !

So, anyway, I guess I have pushed the envelope a little too far. With the
four leukemia kitties, four permanent house kitties, and two fosters still
with me at the moment. It is a bit too much for my little house, plus all
the aforementioned pets and kids. Oh yes, and I forgot to mention I have a
room-mate as well !! So, as you can see, we are becoming "crowded
sardines".

Mark did know of my affinity and love for animals right from the get-go.
But too be perfectly fair, I have to admit that I am taking it all to a
different level now.

So, I can understand if he isn't comfortable taking that step with me. I
really can't be angry. A little sad maybe, but not angry. It's tough to
find someone who is willing to take on all the responsibilities I have.
Just a single mom with two boys (including one testy teenager) is enough to
scare away a good percentage of men !! <smile>

Ah well, such is life. I guess I'll just start hanging out at animal rights
demonstrations or pet fairs or something and keep an eye out for my perfect
soul mate !!! Wish me luck.

Denise

           Denise,
I'm really sorry to hear that, but I have to look at it this way -
my cats will always be the center of my universe, my boyfriend then, now
husband - knew that. He fortunetley loves the kitties as much as I do. If
it wasn't that way, then these are my feelings, he knew when we got together
they were the most important thing in my life, I flat told him that out loud
while he was looking at me (there's no way he could say he didn't know
that), when we first got together. He accepted that and we love our kitties
with all our hearts, if his feelings about them ever changed he knows we
would not stay together.
