Hi Julie,
I know what you mean - at 4:45 am!!! But... I would do the same thing.
I have never handled a liver and just about gag when I buy a whole
chichen at the store and have to take those things out - even though
they are usually in a little bag. Guess next time, I will have to put on
exam gloves or something and give my kitties a treat instead of sending
them down the garbage disposal as fast as I can. Glad Chappy liked it.
Keep up the good work. Bonnie from Ohio

Dear Friends,

Chappy got some of George's aloe vera juice last night; since it's
tasteless, he tolerated very well when I syringed it down. It seems to
be
anything that is flavored that gives him a problem in terms of gagging
it
back up. He only picked at his food and this morning came out to
visit,
looked at his food and hopped back into bed. I went out to the kitchen
and
got him a raw chicken liver and he ate it eagerly! It's the first time
in
weeks that he has shown that kind of interest in food. I was overjoyed
as
I sat there picking raw livers apart at 4:45 this morning! The things
that
thrill us these days! (Luna pooped and Mr. Black Kitty had a firm-ish
stool! Wowee!)

I gave him a second one which he ate a bit of, but then seemed to have
had
enough (I know that organ meats are rich and I didn't want to give him
too
much and risk having him vomit it up).

Another small victory. I've read a bit about raw diets and I think it
may
be the only thing that will tempt him now. Do others feed raw diets?
I
was going to get him an organic, free-range chicken on the way home
and
just cut some up for him. I've read that some people feed the bones
and
all (since they are raw they don't splinter) and others just the
flesh.
Again, any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks to all of you for being here; hugs & headbutts!

Julie
