Julie,
I know how you feel. I bred high quality show dogs for years getting
outrageous prices and breeding for that just right show look. Once I started
getting into rescue I fixed every one of my prize dogs and swore AKC off for
the rest of my life. They taught me to breed to improve the quailty of the
breed and I never knew that 70,000 puppies and kittens born every day. I
would NEVER breed another litter again. All of a sudden the mixed breed
puppies and kittens are just as important. The sick and unwanted end up loved
and treasured at my house. Today that perfect "look" is when my felv baby ate
his first bit of hard food in six months. Watching C play with a cat toy for
the first time in months made me happier than any best in show could ever do.
