Bonnie,

I think the heart is in the right place but the head may not be at times.
The ad showing a woman in a fur coat being attacked and beaten up is an
example of that. Such tactics turn off many people to an otherwise good
cause.

There is the Animal Defense Fund, in California - I think, that
takes cases like these. I am glad to hear that the culprit
has been charged with a felony and the authorities seem
inclined to see that he is punished.

Despite PETA's looney stunts, they are pretty good about
ferreting out and publishing instances of animal abuse.
I do animal stories for our local community radio station
and have interviewed a lot of different people at PETA .
And I do mean "different", as in wide array; there seem to
be as many hard working pragmatic types, e.g. Jane Garrison
the circus elephant expert, as well as some uncompromising
"young Turks" in that organization. So I do support them in spite
of some of their more exasperating tactics I think their web
site shows some of their good work.
