OH Sherry, that is too bad. Frustrating to say the least. Why don't you call
and get a telephone consultation with Cornell? They are at least up on all
the latest treatments and with the whole feline centre there I bet they
could give you some good advice:

Dr. Louis J. Camuti Memorial
Feline Telephone Consultation & Diagnostic Service
1-800-KITTY-DR (800-548-8937)

Tufts also has an oncology unit.. they may be able to help you.. maybe you
can fed-ex them your x-rays to see what they say...

good luck Sherry - we are praying for you and Mickey.

>Hi everyone,
>
>Unfortunately I drove a long ways and wasted a whole day (which Mickey
>probably doesn't have a lot of) and more money for nothing. After sitting
>in the office for three hours, the vet refused to do anything for Mickey
>and said she seconded the other vet's opinion that his situation is
>hopeless. And maybe it is but I'm not trusting her. She based her little
>speech on my conversation w/the tech in which I basically just told him the
>other vet's diagnosis. She didn't want to see the x-rays, and I had to
>practically force her to even examine Mickey. She also told me that they
>don't even do chemo there which I know is a lie. She said if I wanted to
>try to treat him I need to go to Mizzou. Thanks a lot! I am just furious
>and have had it up to the eyeballs w/these vets. I do not understand why I
>can't get someone to even try chemo. How do they know it won't work? I
>told her that I had two kitties at home (Majika and Popeepl) that a vet
>recommended I should pts but were still alive and doing well five years
>later. I asked her how she expected me to trust anyone after that. It
>pissed her off so I felt like we were at least even, except I had to pay
>her!
>
>Mickey is still eating but less than he was and I can tell he is getting
>weaker. I'm seriously considering taking him to Mizzou but need to make
>decision immediately. I figure who needs to pay bills or eat anyway,
>right? I just hate to go all the way up there and spend money I probably
>shouldn't and then lose him anyway. Plus at this point, I don't know where
>I'd find someone to follow him. The vet I saw Friday told me she didn't
>know anyone in the area who would do it and I'd have to leave him at
>Mizzou. I think not! I just wish I knew what to do. Words of wisdom
>anyone?
