Yuck, Tonya! I don't know if the rat would hurt the cats or not. If you have a good rapport with your vet, maybe you could ask? I would think that if the cats know how to hunt, they could kill it. None of my gang would be able to -- they are always indoors (Siggie and Salome' especially wouldn't know what to do because they have never been outdoor cats).
