If I can tell in just the few paragraphs you've written, how much you loved Slinky--I'm 100% sure he knew how much you all cared about him. Thank you for taking him in.

Subject: Slinky

Just to give an update, Slinky passed away this morning on his way to the Vet.  My wife was taking him to be put to sleep since he seemed to be suffering and we just couldn't have that.

He was a tough guy and fought it to the end.   Having had a number of cats, he amazed me with his strength, speed, and quickness.  He was the most athletic cat we've ever had.  I'm not sure who will keep the mice and mole population down this year (my wife really hated that part).  He was an athletic hunter but he was also extremely gentle (patient and unafraid around kids) who had a special bond with my wife.  Often I would find them both asleep with his arm over her neck.

Funny story was that he was given to us by some friends that couldn't keep him.  They had told us he was a female and when we took him in to get spayed, they informed us he was a male.  We felt really stupid since we never thought to check.  That's also when we found out the was FelV+.  By then he was already a part of the family and there was no way we were going to put him to sleep.  The vet was upset with us since we had 5 other cats.  Hopefully, none of the others have gotten infected but we were willing to risk it.

Thank you for allowing me this small tribute to an awesome cat.

Kyle
