    I'm sorry for your great loss.  Slinky sounds like he was an excellent friend and companion and was loved much by you both, that is wonderful.  Bless you for taking him in and keeping him regardless to live out his life happily catching mice and moles and sleeping with his arm around your wife (that image is so very nice). Very lovely memorial tribute, Kyle.
