Also I keep Akira adn INdy togeather....Indy is vaccinated and negative ..I will have him retested yearly..and hope....I do have faith in the newer vaccines..BUT anything is possible....if he ever does turn positive while I will feel horrrible..he was the best thing I found for her..they love each other and it keeps her energy up and spirits going....and if I hadnt gotten him..he would have either been killed or become another wondering tom making more kittens..so I try to look at it in the best way I can....In my home it would be  immpossible to keep them seperate forever..he was kept in a LARGE dog kennel prior to him being tame, neutered and vaccinated, and boostered...so While FeLV is contagious..the fear of brinnging it around on your clothes is a bit off too....FeLV is very short lived...unlike some viruses..it is NOT hardy at all..esspecially once out of the host...when any drool you have on you dries...or evaportaes..FeLV dies, once out of the host ..like on a litter scoop it dies in several hours anywyas..the temp isnt right...and if you want to be 100% sure..just spray it with some bleach..which will kill it iinstantly...even in a cat..everything has to be just flat right..well I should say WRONG..for it to be able to take hold..and with cats grooming themselves..they only can catch it if they IMMEDIATLY lick right after teh infected cat...and for all those reasons..is why I am more concerned about Indy or any negative..in a well keppt and vaccinated house hold...giving the positive something..not the other way around...       Lisa and fur-brats Akira--FeLV miracle baby www.geocities.com/anzajaguar Indy-- Truley Indian Jones as a cat..FEARLESS Lance- Mini wire haired dashchund Bow-Tie- 2yr old (ssshhhh he doesnt know he is 15 :) ) jack russel cross Bennie Bird-- Vampire cockatiel Anza-- sexist Senegal parrot..deffinantly a ladies bird :)
