It does have corn and for that reason I did not want to use the food. However, I had some problems with Wellness and shipping was eating me alive. I have used the food 5 weeks and Magellan used to throw up 3-6 times per week. He hasn't thrown up since the Eagle. Not once.
The corn in it is in very small amounts. Corn is not a major protein source in their foods like it is in some of the cheaper stuff. They use it for fiber. The canned food is 65% meat. They use free range, organic meats as much as possible. No artificial preservatives. Great probiotics and supplements in the food. The company uses feeding trials with a group of breeders to get feedback on their foods. On one trial, they supposedly removed the corn and the breeders found that vomiting increased in some cats. So, they put the corn back. My cats are eating primarily the dry food because they love it so much. Even my canned food guys prefer Eagle dry to any brand canned.
My cats love the stuff. I have 9 cats on it and every single one of them prefer it to other brands.
The Eagle Holistic is the best of their line. It is also one of the few catfoods that has glucosamine in it which makes it wonderful for my senior cat.
Now, I have only had them on it for 5 weeks and I don't think you can tell much about other things like coat in less than 4 months. Thus far, I really like it but time may tell a different story. Hopefully it will continue to work out. I have had my dog on it for 5 months and she has done really well. Her coat is better than it was on Wellness and Innova.

Hi Faye,
I've been having problems with vomiting with almost all my cats and have been looking for a quality food to switch them to suspecting that's the problem. Could you tell us more about 'Eagle Pack' and where you get it?
Nina

I also have to add this. I have a 2 year old cat that is a chronic vomiter due to persistent hairballs. I changed their food 5 weeks ago to Eagle Pack and for the first time ever, he has not vomited once. I have no idea as to how the other cats will do on the food but Magellan has not had a hairball or vomited since being put on Eagle Pack. I am not using the Hairball formula either. I am just using the Holistic Select.

I feed canola blend oil to my horses during the winter. My oldest cat, who accompanies me to the barn every morning, licks the measuring cup clean. He never has not had a hairball in the winter since he started doing that. The only time of the year he does not have one. My other cats don't like canola oil the way Simba does.
Canola oil blend might be worth trying if you can get your cat to like it. It is rich in vitamin e too.

Laxastat works well also. I give Patches a little every day, which cuts down
a lot on the amount she pukes from hair balls.
