Welcome to this wonderful group Alejandra (I found it earlier this year when I discovered 5 of my 6 foster cats had FeLV, and it's been a godsend---there are many supportive seasoned and knowledgeable people on the list who generously share their experience and info.)

Adri and Chema are lucky to have found you.

Yes, you CAN do a lot to help them---high-quality nutrition and filtered water, plus the right supplements are all very very important. The big problem with FeLV is that it knocks the stuffing out of their immune system, so the goal is to build it up as far as possible. My 6 were in a sorry state when I got them, and now, tho of course they still have FeLV,  they look and sound a million times better. You never know when something is going to hit them tho, so I have to keep a close eye on them at all times. Three  of my lot have been on antibiotics 3 times now in the course of a year. (The others have been on twice) And, I don't want to make it sound as if everything is going to be just fine once you have the diet right---one of mine is not his usual self just now, and I'm having to keep an even closer eye on him. But, I feel they're as well as they possibly could be given the circumstances.

I'm going send you the nutrition info off-list, as it's from a book, and I don't want to run into copyright trouble!

Don't be intimidated---just start slowly by gving them the right pet food, and filtered water, and then start getting the supplements together. I found it a little daunting at first seeing a bunch of strange supplement names but everything is easily found in health food stores, and some of it you can get at Walgreens or Osco, and now it's just become routine. I feel I'm doing

Thanks for being there for your 2 little kitties. And you can ask as many Qs as you like---as I say, there are some fantastically informed and helpful people on this list who have a wealth and breadth of knowledge re FeLV way above any vet I've met. I, for one, would  be lost without them.

Will be in touch again very shortly.
Best of luck to you and your kitties, Kerry

Subject: Adri and Chema

Hello everyone.

I am from overseas, since I am living alone in MS I decided to adopt 2 cats 3 months ago Adri (female now 6months old) and Chema (male now 5 month old). They are my first pets ever. They are wonderful cats, I love them. I am very happy with them.

2 weeks ago, Adri became very sick, she didnt want to eat, didnt want to walk and had fever. I took her to the veterinary and the diagnosis was a urinary infection and feline leukemia. The veterinary told me that it is important check the other cat. Chema is FeLV(+). I am shocked with the diagnosis. I hadnt heard about FeLV before. Adri received antibiotics and she is doing better.

I have been reading a lot. I found your group in Internet.

I am giving them cat vitamins and a homeopathic product for cats. But I am confused, The information I found is contradictory sometimes. I need help, I do not know what to do with my cats. I would like to start something to keep the healthier, but the veterinary told me I can not do anything only "wait and see" I cannot believe that I cannot help my cats.

Please help me, I need advice.

Alejandra
