Thank you for the prayers and well wishes for Grace. She seems a little better this morning, so maybe you and the dox are helping. The diarrhea is still bad, but last night I was able to get her to drink some diluted chicken liver broth and this morning she drank water on her own, she's not eating though. I'm watching her closely. I don't want to have to bring her to the vet as an emergency patient, because I don't want her to be stressed out in a cage, if I can help it. If the situation starts to look desperate, that's what I'll do.

Sally,
I haven't taken Grace's temp, but she doesn't feel to the touch like she has a fever. There was a good deal of vomiting going on in the household, so I switched from dry ProPlan Natural to Natural Balance, (I think that's the name, the one Dick Van Patton has his name on). I mixed it to switch them slowly, and not everyone has diarrhea, Gypsy still does, (it's been months). Gypsy is the feral turned house cat, that is finally enjoying being petted. Trying to pill her would send her a giant step backwards in her trust for us. She's neg and acts perfectly healthy in every other way, except she's always been too skinny for my taste. I had tried sneaking flagil into liver pieces and she got about 6 days worth before she started to chew and spit. That stuff is really nasty tasting! She's also on acidophilous. I'm thinking of trying one of the prescription foods that have the proteins broken down for easier digestion.

I'm feeling more confident about Grace surviving long enough to be treated with the Virbagen. Pray it gets here in time, and pray it works! I too can't imagine going through all this without the opportunity to see if it could help her. Unfortunately we're all too painfully aware that life's not fair.

You people are the best, thank you for the support,
Nina

Dear Nina...

I'm so sorry to hear that Grace's condition is deteriorating. A food change could cause her GI tract to be upset and bring on diarrhea...what kind of food did you switch her to, and from what? Diarrhea is the body's way of trying to rid itself of something it perceives to be toxic...to hurry it through and out of the body. Is she running a fever or does she have any other symptoms like before. It could be that whatever was assaulting her system before is making a reappearance.

I am praying tonight that the kitty angels up above will be watching over Grace and help her hang in there and remain stable until the new meds come in on Wed. You've worked so hard for this and perservered when no one else was able to find a way. It would be worse than unjust for it not to arrive in time to give Grace a fighting chance to get well...and Jazz, too.

My three + furkids are all eating well and stable. If the VO is now on the way, I need to redouble my efforts to find a vet here who would be willing to cooperate with your vet. I will keep Grace in my thoughts and close to my heart and hope the next thing we hear from you is ALL good news.

'Bye for now...Sally
