Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened.
My first FELV+ cat, Miss Cruizer, was acting a little sluggish one monday that I was home. I figured for sure I had caught whatever it was early. I called the vet first thing tuesday morning and had an appointment scheduled for first thing Wednesday morning. I came home tuesday from work and found her. She had died sometime during the day while I was at work.
I do often think "at least it was quick" but then I hate it, too, because I feel like they never got a chance to fight off whatever it was that eventually took them.
I also remind myself of what their fate would have been had I not taken them (most shelters put them right down, but my local ones will call me first and if I can take them then their life is saved).
