Rachel, I'm so sorry! Poor all of you (Lennon, Axl,
everyone!)
When I first found out my Gary was FeLV+ (AND had a
heart murmur) I read that the 2 can be connected and
that some cats live long lives with heart murmurs,
some kittens "grow out of it" and some will literally
drop dead of heart failure without anyone knowing that
they had a heart problem. Perhaps this is what
happened and she was blessed with having a quick and
painless passing.
Nina,
When my Semuta died of lymphoma, he had been sick with
IBD for a long time and his littermate and my other
cat seemed to know he was sick and actually withdrew
from him as Semuta got closer to me (I was medicating
him daily and babying him). I had Semuta euthanized
at the vet and I was worried how his littermate would
react with his 8 year old brother gone. For 2-3 days
after he was much more vocal in general and would
stand in the kitchen and meow and meow. I finally
would have to pick him up each night and hold him on
my chest on the couch where he would sleep for hours,
like he was exhausted - but he didn't come to me -
it's like he didn't know what to do so he would stand
there and meow.
He has since slept next to me in bed every night but
is otherwise "back to normal". I am very grateful to
have my other cat though, because they are very close
and I think her companionship has helped him. (not
Gary, she lives at my b/f's house by herself)
