Dear Jen:

That is great news! Way to go Maggie...keep surprising your new mom
with what a brave and amazing spirit you have!!

Have you given any thought to whether or not acupuncture might help
Maggie?...sometimes damaged nerve pathways can be stimulated to regenerate if
there is
still some function remaining. It might be worth a try. Some vets have even
experimented with injections at acupuncture sites to treat various internal
malfunctions, such as liver failure/dysfunction.

I have a friend who had a weanling filly who evidently fell and broke her
pelvis but no one saw her fall and the injury went undiagnosed properly until
she
was older and the break had already healed on its own. She made it through
months of unexplainable and bizarrre symptoms and almost completely lost the
use of one hind leg. More than one vet was baffled, but without expensive
diagnostics the problem remained a mystery. Accupuncture was one of the
modalities
used to treat her. Eventually the filly regained use of her leg and was able
to move about normally, with only a minor hitch in her stride. She was even
shown in hand and won a futurity class. When this horse was subsequently given
a breeding health exam as a four year old, the true nature of her injury was
finally discovered, after the fact. She was subsquently able to carry and
give birth to a healthy foal.

Maggie must be one very special kitty...she has survived what must have been
a horrendous injury and managed to adapt. Her "find a super cat mom" radar
has served her well it seems. Sounds like you got an
extra-something-to-be-thankful for this Thanksgiving. Keep us updated on
Maggie's progress. We are so
in need of success stories, even if it isn't FeLV-related.
