Thank you for all that info. Unfortunately I think I am over 2 hours away
from both of those hospitals, which would make it less of an "emergency" option
(though having him wait 9 hours for treatment isn't either!). As of 10 pm the
tech swore he was in the midst of being transfused and also that he had eaten
1.5 cans of fancy feast on his own quite hungrily -- which I could hardly
believe. I really do not know what to think about what is happening with him.

The reason I am using this hospital's emergency services, which are not the
closest to me, is that it is the same hospital where the oncologist is and
where the internist, who is very good, was treating him during the week. The
night/weekend emergency staff are a problem, but the other services are good
and
all his records are there. I sent an email to the oncologist letting him know
what happened.

Thank you so much for your thoughts and information.
Michelle

<< Dear Michelle,

It seems to me that I remember you are in Boston area; the only MSPCA
hospital I have used is the one in Springfield and I was impressed.

There is also an Emergency Veterinary hospital in Farmington, CT (kind of a
haul, I know) where my dear friend Dr. Kim Meier is on staff; I don't know if
she's on tonight, though.
Here's their info: http://www.doubleavet.com/474596.html

It's so difficult to decide what to do sometimes; keep Simon where he is
known and where
it's familiar, or say 'dammit, this cat's getting a transfusion no matter
where I have to go'.

Take care; your both in my thoughts and prayers. Come on, Simon, kick butt!

Love, Julie
